A lone figure pulls it’s limp body along the ash covered landscape. One of the last. A survivor. The seas have turned to blood. The supernova sun, like a blinding wound in the sky, has boiled away the sky revealing the vast loneliness of the universe ready to swallow the sorry world on which it now gazes.
The figure, knowing that the reaper has gently placed a hand on his shoulder, crawls into cover under a previously mighty stand. A place of shelter for many, a place of misery for more. No shelter or misery remain in this world as the souls of those left are claimed by the end of days. With trembling hands, the figure removes the deadly plastic shard of a pen, his weapon in this world, from his worn coat pocket and slowly lifts the last scrap of paper on earth which hasn’t been consumed by the fires of hell. This simple piece of paper which has dominated his whole life.
As the last of the earth is consumed into the void he raises the pen and with his final breath…..
